Upgrading Gripper but re-using equipment

Instead of buying a new monopile gripper our customer requested us to upgrade the gripper frame to be able to handle bigger monopiles. We have overhauled all winches, manifolds and hydraulic cylinders. Also the HPU was serviced. We disassembled all hydraulic piping and electric cabling and installed new material.

Reuse Volvo diesel engine

An example of material reuse. We received these diesel engines from the customer as supplied equipment, with the intention of ultimately converting them into a diesel‑driven HPU. These diesel engines were previously used as emergency backup generators at a hospital in Sweden and had accumulated very few operating hours.

A tensioner must maintain very stable and predictable line tension to protect the submarine cables. We replaced the hydraulic drive for an electric drive.
