The Volkerak locks are part of a busy shipping route, the Rhine-Meuse-Scheldt Delta.
In order to ensure shorter waiting times for the ships travelling through these locks, Hycom has adjusted the existing hydraulic system of the locks, also provided by Hycom, by adding cylinders and a 3rd hatch in the ebb doors to speed up the levelling process.
